The painted line on the shaft indicates the depth of the anchor installation, establishing the approved depth for the anchoring in the drilled hole in the base material. Once drilled, the line should be aligned with the surface of the concrete before applying the recommended tightening torque. It is therefore a visual guide that allows the user to check that they are following the approved indications, ensuring the designed product’s properties.

Some anchors, such as the MTH range, have two coloured lines on the shaft, as the anchor has two approved installation depths. See link for further information.

The lower line requires greater installation depth, which normally provides better performance depending on strength. Installation at the lesser depth (shown by the upper line) allows for a thicker anchor plate, although the strength of the anchor will normally be reduced. In either case, these two options offer greater flexibility in the use of the same anchor.
